Shovels can destroy Dirt, Gravel and Sand blocks faster than using fists or other tools. The only difference between the shovel types is how many time uses you get out of them and how much damage they deal. diamond Shovel has a durability of 1025 uses and 2 hearts of damage

2 Sticks + 1 Diamond => 1 Diamond Shovel

but it is recommended to just use Stone Shovel or iron Shovel because of the material being expensive and hard to find
